On November 22, 2023, the inauguration ceremony of the Shanto- Mariam-Honghe Confucius Classroom and the opening & award ceremony of the first "National Impressions" China-Bangladesh University Students Painting Exhibition were successfully held in Uttara, Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.The events were attended by approximately 400 guests, including H.E. Yao Wen, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Bangladesh; Mr. Nazrul Islam, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh; Mr. Le Liwen, Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh; Mr. Hong Bo, Chair of the University Council of Honghe University; Prof. Mostafizur Haque, Chairman of SMUCT’s Board of Trustees ; Prof.Dr. Shah E Alam,Vice-Chancellor of SMUCT; Mrs. Yang Hui, Chinese Dean of the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka; Ms. Ma Xiaoyan, Chinese Dean of the Confucius Institute at North South University.Also present were Chinese language teachers and volunteer teachers, representatives from the Association of Chinese Enterprises in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Chinese Overseas Association, Chinese and Bangladeshi media outlets, the International University of Business, Agriculture and Technology, faculty and student representatives from partner universities in Bangladesh, and other distinguished guests.
