The 25th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students

On May 14, 2026, the 25th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students (Bangladesh Qualifying Round) was successfully held at the Auditorium of the International Mother Language Institute. This event was guided by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, Ministry of Education of China, hosted by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bangladesh, organized by Confucius Institute at University of Dhaka, and co-organized by the International Mother Language Institute, the Confucius Institute at North South University and the

Shanto-Mariam-Honghe Confucius Classroom.

 The event was graced by the presence of H.E. Mr. Yao Wen, Ambassador of China to Bangladesh, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ashaduzzaman, Director of the International Mother Language Institute, Prof. Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Treasurer of University of Dhaka, Prof. Nasar U. Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the North South University, Prof. Dr. MD Farid Uddin Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Rajshahi, directors of Confucius Institutes and Classroom in Bangladesh, representatives from Chinese language education institutions and media, faculty and students attended the event.

 The competition was divided into two parts, with a China-related and Chinese Language Knowledge Competition in the morning and a Speech & Talent Competition in the afternoon. After intense competition among the 11 contestants, one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes, and five excellent prizes were ultimately decided.

 The first-place winner of the qualifying round will represent Bangladesh at the Global Finals in China, while the second-place winner will travel to China as an observing guest.
